International Panel

International Panel for Consumers in Arthritis Research

20 facilitators...

           20 nations...

                      Endless possibilities.

We all know that consumer input on research plays an invaluable role in maintaining its relevance and usefulness. CMSG incorporates consumer feedback to provide direction for both research and dissemination of results. To further this success, we are undertaking the assembly of an international panel of people with arthritis who would be consulted regularly about research priorities, goals, choice of outcomes, patient values, and knowledge translation.

How will it work?

CMSG aims to assemble 20 consumer leaders from 20 countries. These leaders will then recruit 20 consumers from within their country who can provide input into arthritis research activities such as systematic reviews and priority-setting.

What will members of the international panel do?

The panel will be consulted regularly (about 3-4 times per year) in our work with Cochrane and other research work relevant to arthritis. You may be asked to complete an online survey, participate in an interview, or read written materials (such as plain language summaries and patient decision aids) and give your thoughts.

Who is eligible to become a member of the international panel?

People with personal experience with arthritis - either as a patient or as a family member or friend of someone with arthritis - are eligible.

1.     People who have the ability to represent the interests of arthritis patients and communicate their perspective.

2.     People with a general knowledge of arthritis and its treatments.

3.     People with access to the internet and email.

Will there be training?

No training is necessary. We will send you the materials to review before you need to participate in a consultation, including a glossary of unfamiliar terms. If you are interested in learning more about a topic, you will be directed to appropriate reading materials and resources.

Which countries will be represented on the panel?

We would like to hear from people with arthritis from all over the world. In particular, consumers from Africa, Asia, and the UK are encouraged to join the panel.

Language:

At the present time, correspondence will be in English. As our panel grows, we hope to provide correspondence in other languages as well.

Be heard!
